• ‘Kupal’ to compete at Split film festival
2017-08-12Iranian feature movie ‘Kupal’ is accepted for the competition section of the international Split film festival, slated to be held September 9-16, 2017.
The festival runners announced that only 9 movies have been selected for competition in the main section. Iran’s single candidate ‘Kupal’, will compete with works from Austria, Spain, China, Mexico, Philippines, Croatia, India and South Korea in this edition of the festival.
Directed by Kazem Mollaie, ‘Kupal’ won the best feature award at the ‘Around’ film festival in Amsterdam last month.
The film depicts the story of Dr. Ahmad Kupal, a taxidermist hunter, who faces a challenge on the eve of the new Iranian year. The film’s genre is environment protection and respecting animal rights.
Kupal’s cast includes Levon Haftvan, Nazanin Farahani and Pouria Rahimi Sam as lead actors.
Split Film Festival was founded in 1996. It is one of the oldest film and video festivals in Croatia that showcases new, creative, personal, radical works of all styles, themes, genres and lengths, from outside the mainstream. The festival is held annually for directors new to the industry.
